HOPS (Helping Our Parents Succeed) Grant Program in partnership with The Garth House. The grant provides educational materials for all new parents, and support and information for women hospitalized on bedrest and parents with a baby in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit or NICU.
Community Baby Shower – this annual event is held in partnership with KBMT Channel 12. During the 2009 event held on June 24th, thousands of baby items were collected to be given to expectant moms seeking prenatal education. Donations totaled over $38,000 worth – a 60% increase over last year!
Centering Pregnancy, a group model of prenatal care shown to improve birth outcomes. UTMB Beaumont is 1 of 15 sites in Texas. A recent state-wide evaluation demonstrated a preterm birth rate of just6.5% with participants of the Centering Pregnancy model of care versus 13.7% state-wide.
Perinatal Grief Program at CHRISTUS St. Elizabeth was awarded to purchase bereavement materials for families experiencing the loss of a newborn.
Our mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality. We carry out this mission through research, community services, education and advocacy to save babies' lives. March of Dimes researchers, volunteers, educators, outreach workers and advocates work together to give all babies a fighting chance against the threats to their health: prematurity, birth defects, low birthweight.
